AIPA (Association for the Inclusion of People with Autism) has organized the presentation of Marlene Horna’s book “Boys and girls on the autism spectrum: Understanding and practical strategies for educational support” on June 4 at 12:00 in the Francisco Vitoria Room in the Main Building of the School for the Elderly at the University of Salamanca, with Miguel Ángel Verdugo (Professor of Psychology of Disability and director of the University Institute for Community Integration (INICO)).
In addition to the book’s author and editor, also present will be Ángel Morín, Salamanca’ Provincial Director of Education, Lucía Valencia, a vocational teacher who is involved with the needs of all students, representing the Colegio Maestro Ávila and known for her great work in inclusivity, not only with people with autism, and Teresa Sanz Vicario, a nationally-renowned psychologist specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder, an expert in intervention in the natural environment and specifically in the educational environment.
At the association we consider that this book is very useful and necessary. We believe that as well as being eminently practical, it is also very well grounded theoretically.
Marlene Horna offers a multitude of enlightening examples, based on her own experience in direct intervention with people with ASD in the natural environments in which their lives take place and specifically in the educational environment, defending their right to an inclusive education, contributing all her knowledge and expertise so that the full participation of these students becomes a reality.
